What is a Higher Professional Technical Course (CTeSP)?

- A new modality of higher studies cycle lasting 2 years (120 ECTS);

- Course leading to qualification level 5 of the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning;

- Attributes the “Diploma of Higher Professional Technician”.

 

Why attend a CTeSP at ESESJC?

- ESESJC is a polytechnic higher education institution with extensive experience   in training highly qualified professionals at a scientific, technical and human level;

- The Course is taught in a higher education environment, by professors who teach undergraduate, postgraduate and master's degrees, and with access to laboratories, equipment and simulators;

- Students attend a higher education course at a very low cost, as it is subsidized by the European Social Fund;

- The CTeSP are courses specifically aimed at the labor market, with a practical component of approximately 75%;

- These courses include internships that are previously secured through protocols with the Social Security Institute of Madeira and with various I

RAM private institutions;

- Holders of a TeSP can apply for a degree study cycle through the Special Contests for Access to Higher Education.

General objectives

CTeSP aims to train qualified technicians to plan, manage and carry out activities that promote the general well-being, physical and cognitive stimulation, safety and balanced nutrition of elderly people or people who need long-term care, whether within the scope of institutions that provide specific social responses, or in a home support regime.

Professional Status

Students who complete the course receive a Higher Professional Technician diploma. Potential employers of future TeSP in Gerontology and Long-Term Care are the 28 Nursing Homes in RAM (public and private), the 2 nursing homes, the Regional Network for Integrated Continuous Care, the IPSS, the public and private care services households, among others.

a) Hold a secondary education course or legally equivalent qualification, which must include at least one of the following subjects: Portuguese, Mathematics, Biology or Physical Chemistry;
b) Hold a technological specialization diploma, a higher professional technician diploma or a higher education degree;
c) Pass the specially appropriate tests designed to assess the ability of those over 23 years of age to attend higher education, carried out for the course in question, under the terms of Decree-Law No. 64/2006, of March 21, amended by Decree Laws No. 113/2014 of July 16th and 63/2016 of September 13th.
