The Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Nursing arises in the context of a partnership between the Escola Superior de Enfermagem de São José de Cluny, the Escola Superior de Saúde de Santa Maria and the Escola Superior de Enfermagem Dr. José Timóteo Montalvão Machado, which has the new nomenclature of Higher School of Nursing Portuguese Red Cross - Alto Tâmega.

It is intended to train nurses with scientific, technical, ethical and human competence, so that they can meet the demands of the social role that the citizens of their region, country and the whole world expect of them.

This Master's Course in Rehabilitation Nursing has the general objective of ensuring the acquisition of scientific, technical, human and cultural skills suitable for the provision of nursing care, specialized in the field of rehabilitation. Increased competences are ensured in the scientific field, through this training at the 2nd cycle level, namely, in the scientific area of the course and in the specific field of research.

General objectives

The)Integrate knowledge, deal with complex issues, develop solutions or issue judgments, considering the ethical and social implications and responsibilities associated with the practice of Rehabilitation Nursing care;

B)Communicate their conclusions in the area of Rehabilitation Nursing, the knowledge and reasoning underlying them, both to specialists and non-specialists, in a clear and unambiguous way;
ç)To develop competences in the area of Rehabilitation Nursing that allow them to have a reasoned professional practice and autonomous lifelong learning.

Professional Status

The Masters in Rehabilitation Nursing foresees a teaching-learning process that allows the attribution of a professional title of specialist in the area of Rehabilitation Nursing by the Order of Nurses, fulfilling the necessary requirements for the development of common skills of the Specialist Nurse and specific of the Specialist Nurse in Rehabilitation, advocated by the Order of Nurses (Regulations n.º 122 and 125 of February 18, 2011, Diário da República, 2nd series, n.º 35), and at the same time, confer the academic degree of Master on those who demonstrate deepen knowledge in the scientific area obtained in the 1st cycle of Nursing.

- Be holder of a degree in Nursing or legal equivalent or holders of a foreign higher academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of nursing studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna process by a State adhering to that process, or holders of a foreign higher academic degree recognized as meeting the objectives of the bachelor's degree by the scientific body of the Escola Superior de Enfermagem de São José de Cluny
- Be the holder of a professional card or certificate of enrollment in the Order of Nurses, duly updated

- Have two years of professional practice at the time of application
